My interests are based in applying metabarcoding as a genetic tool to detect fish
species using eDNA from freshwater samples, and relate this novel biomonitoring
approach to ecological purposes. Following this topic, my work in collaboration with
eGL consisted in building a complete reference database collection for all European
species in terms of sequence data. Furthermore, during my short-term research stay I
participated in their fieldwork campaign, learning new sampling methodologies. We
also shared knowledge regarding laboratory protocols and bioinformatic pipelines.
